SAU Tech and BBA Solutions Honors Doug Williams on Veteran’s Day

Doug Williams's Service Honored in Veteran's Day Event

SAU Tech's Heroes and Veterans Student Organization hosted an event honoring Veterans on Monday, November 11, during lunch in the College's Student Center dining area. The event included refreshments and cake. Dr. Jason Morrison, SAU Tech Chancellor, welcomed everyone and expressed heartfelt thanks to the veterans in the crowd for their service.

During the event, Robyn Hughes, with BBA Solutions (Campus Bookstore), announced two book scholarships in memory of Douglas Williams, the brother of Dr. Valerie Wilson, Vice Chancellor for Academics and Planning with SAU Tech.

Douglass Williams, was a Retired Senior Chief Petty Officer with the Navy when he passed away suddenly on May 14, 2019. Williams's siblings were present for the event- Sharon Sherman, Dr. Valerie Wilson, and Retired Lt. Colonel in the Army, Clinton Williams. BBA awarded a scholarship to cover a full academic year of book costs to Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class, Grant Bender, from Washington, D.C., and son of a Navy Chief, Franklin Privett from Jonesboro. The family and students expressed their gratitude to BBA for the honor.

Veteran students Briggs Bruton and Myrick Hirmer, along with Veteran College Advisor, Ellen Garrett, provided the refreshments and organized the event.
