New VC for Student Services Joins SAU Tech’s Staff

SAU Tech Hires New Executive Staff Member

Camden, Arkansas-Southern Arkansas University Tech is pleased to introduce Dr. Edward Rice as the College's new Vice Chancellor for Student Services.

Dr. Edward Rice II is a native of Greenville, Ms. He received his A.A. degree from Mississippi Delta Community College in General Studies. He completed his B.A. degree at Mississippi State University in Public Administration in 1992. He completed his Master's Degree at Alcorn State University in Educational Administration/Athletic Administration in 1995. He completed his Doctorate Degree at Mississippi State University in Educational Leadership with a Community College Administration concentration in the Spring of 2009.

Professionally, Dr. Rice's experiences include; Three years as Assistant Dean of Students at Mississippi Delta Community College, two years as Head Baseball Coach at Kentucky State University, and three years as Dean of Students at Mississippi Delta Community College. Currently, he serves as Vice-President of Student Services at Mississippi Delta Community College.

Dr. Rice's community and professional affiliations include Deacon at Higher Heights Baptist Church (Moorhead, MS), Past President of the Epsilon XI Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Past President, and secretary/treasurer of the Moorhead Rotary Club, Moorhead Chamber of Commerce Board Member, Washington County Boys and Girls Club Board Member, Greenville Sportsplex Board Member, BB King Museum Board Member, Salvation Army Board Member, Board Member and Past President, Greenville, St. Joseph Catholic School Board and President, Mississippi Community/Junior College Student Affairs Association.

He is married to the former Tonya James of Fayette, Mississippi. They are the proud parents of two children, Edward Rice III (Junior, Mississippi State University) and Dorian Rice, soon to be a Sophomore at Camden Fairview High School.

Dr. Rice is filling the position left vacant when David McLeane retired from SAU Tech in June of 2020. Dr. Rice oversees the College's enrollment services, recruiting, student life, housing, campus police, registrar, and testing services. Dr. Rice joined the SAU Tech family on January 4, 2021.
