Bishop Jacovis Ray Davis was born February 17, 1965, in Camden, Arkansas to the late Elder James Ray Davis and Sarah Lou Beavers Davis. As a native and youth growing up in Camden, Davis was a scout and member of the Boys and Girls Club and Layfette Community Youth Program. Davis joined the New Mt. Hebron Baptist Church as a youth under the leadership of the late Dr. J.G. Russ. He graduated from Fairview High School in the year of 1983. Davis was very involved in sports, football, baseball, track, and field. He is a member of the one and only Fairview 1983 men's basketball state Champions team.

Davis began contributing to the community through employment opportunities as early as his junior year at Fairview High School with the Student Work Force and Career Development. He also worked at the famous Hush Puppies restaurant. After graduating from high school, he was employed at General Dynamics/ Hughes Missile Systems as (CTO) Certified Test Operator/Maintenance Tech for eight years. He began his coaching career in 1991-2000 with CCA (Camden Christian Academy) where he won two conference titles in the MACC League and earned coach of the year.

In the year of 1987 one of the greatest things that could ever happen took place in his life, he experienced the grace of God through accepting the call to the gospel ministry of Jesus Christ, under the leadership and pastorate of the late Dr. J.G. Russ. After the passing of Dr. J.G. Russ, Davis received his first appointment to pastor in 1991 at the New Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for eight years. Davis was the first to serve as pastor for 16 years at Connection International in the city of Camden, Arkansas. Davis and his wife now serve as the Founders and Pastors of The Word Family Church, Camden Arkansas, building the kingdom of God near and abroad. Davis was ordained into the Bishopric In the year of 2011.

August 15, 1987, Davis married the beautiful and lovely Rena Iretha Leake Davis and to this union, God added two lovely children Jonathan Rayshad Davis who has made a career of playing baseball in the major league with the (Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, and presently the Miami Marlins) and daughter Andreya Nicole Davis Jones a licensed nurse in Little Rock Arkansas. Davis is a very proud grandfather and wears the title Papa with honor which he’s called by the four of his wonderful grandchildren, Peyton N. Jones, Channing Tru Jones, Kapri Dove Davis, and James Ray Davis II.

In addition to the 30-plus years of ministry and pastoring Davis has and continues to utilize his gifts and skills in many areas to better his community, city, state, and abroad such as the Director of the Christian Sports Association of Camden, a youth mentoring and sports program which was founded by former Director, Emeritus Elder Randolph Hegwood. Davis was nominated by Representative David Fielding and appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson to serve on the state Medical Ionizing Radiation Licensure Committee. Davis served as a member of the advisory board to the previous Mayor (Chris Clay Baker) of the City of Camden, Arkansas, he served as President of the Camden Area Ministerial Alliance, served as recorder of Ouachita County Ministerial Alliance, Champlain to the Camden Fairview football program, co-founder of The Word Family Church Christmas Toy Drive and Giveaway.

Davis has over 30 years in sports broadcasting. He served as Color Commentator for Y95 for many years working alongside the great Jim Davis (mentor) and former voice for the Camden Fairview Cardinal football, basketball, and baseball teams. Davis now holds the title of the (Voice of The Cardinals). He also served as manager of the summer program “Swim for Fun at Carnes Park” and manager of the Carnes Park Pool. Davis was the first to be The Voice of the SAU Tech Rockets basketball. Davis is the founder of the radio broadcasts “Morning Glory” and “Gospel Connection” on Magic 104.5 an outreach Broadcast Ministry used to reach and minister to all people near and far. The Vision that the Father has given to Bishop Davis is to seek and save those that are lost by using every platform that the Lord provides.
