SAU Tech Announces Resignation of Head Baseball Coach Nick Piraino
Southern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech) has announced the resignation of Head Baseball Coach Nick Piraino following three seasons leading the college's growing baseball program.
During his tenure, Piraino helped establish a strong foundation for SAU Tech baseball, guiding the program through key developmental years while building a competitive culture on and off the field. His leadership culminated in a historic milestone in 2026 when the team earned its first-ever Regional Tournament appearance.
Historic Growth for SAU Tech Baseball
As one of the leaders of SAU Tech's young athletic program, Coach Piraino played a major role in developing student-athletes and strengthening the overall baseball program. Alongside competitive success, he also worked closely with community sponsors and supporters whose contributions helped advance SAU Tech athletics.
According to SAU Tech Athletic Director Chris Coble, Piraino's impact extended well beyond game days.
"Nick has done an outstanding job building the foundation for our baseball program," said Coble. "He reached new heights in 2026 by guiding us to our first regional tournament appearance. Beyond the wins, Nick invested countless hours in improving our facilities, including reworking our grass field and helping raise funds for the installation of a new outfield fence. His hard work and dedication to SAU Tech baseball will certainly be missed."
Facility Improvements and Community Support
In addition to coaching responsibilities, Piraino contributed significantly to facility upgrades and fundraising efforts that strengthened the student-athlete experience at SAU Tech.
Among the most notable improvements were enhancements to the baseball field and fundraising support for a new outfield fence -- projects that reflected the program's continued growth and investment in athletics at the Camden campus.
SAU Tech officials also recognized Piraino's efforts in fostering relationships with local sponsors and community partners, helping generate support for the baseball program across South Arkansas.
National Search for Next SAU Tech Baseball Coach
SAU Tech has confirmed that a national search is now underway to identify the program's next head baseball coach. School leadership says the goal is to build upon the momentum and success established during the past three seasons.
Additional details regarding the coaching search are expected to be released in the coming days.
