Train to Become a Licensed Nail Technician in Just 15 Weeks

If you're passionate about nail art, manicures, pedicures, and creating professional beauty experiences, Southern Arkansas University Tech’s Nail Technology program offers a fast, affordable pathway to a licensed career in cosmetology. Offered through the SAU Tech Academy of Professional Cosmetology, this 15-week program is accredited and licensed by the Cosmetology Section of the Arkansas Department of Health and teaches students all that is required to successfully pass the National Nail Technology Theory Examination, which is the licensure examination developed by the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC).

Program Overview

The Nail Technology certificate program is designed to provide cosmetology education that meets government agency requirements and the skills standards set for entry-level nail technologists. The program combines classroom instruction, lab practice, and professional development to meet all requirements for Arkansas licensure and national testing standards.

What You’ll Learn As A Nail Tech

Through theory and hands-on lab work, students gain the practical and professional knowledge needed to excel in the nail care industry.

Core Areas of Training Include:

  • Art and Science of Nail Care
  • Training in manicures and pedicures
  • Training in hand/arm and foot/leg massage techniques
  • Advanced nail techniques

Students complete all 600 clock hours required to sit for the National-Interstate Council (NIC) Nail Technology Theory Examination.
