SAU Tech Opens New State-of-the-Art EMS Training Facility to Strengthen Emergency Response in South Arkansas

East Camden, AR (Wednesday, December 3, 2025) — Southern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech) has officially opened its new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed to expand EMT, paramedic, and emergency medical training across South Arkansas. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks a major milestone in SAU Tech’s ongoing commitment to improving regional emergency response and addressing the critical shortage of trained EMS professionals.

The new EMS Training Center is a major expansion of the Arkansas Fire Training Academy, providing increased capacity for CPR certification, Advanced EMT training, paramedic education, and emergency medical simulations. The facility will also support dual-enrollment and workforce development opportunities for both high school students and adult learners seeking careers in emergency medical services.

Features of the New EMS Training Center

The 11,294-square-foot training center is designed to mirror real-world emergency medical environments. Key features include:

• Three modern EMS classrooms supporting lecture and hands-on instruction
• Two emergency room simulation labs with industry-standard technology
• A work bay and fully equipped ambulance bay for advanced scenario-based training
• Student lounge and collaboration areas
• Administrative offices and a conference room for instructors and program coordination

By replicating real emergency conditions, the center will enhance student preparedness through immersive, hands-on training.
