WEB-BASED LEARNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
New Blackboard Username
Beginning summer 2008, your Blackboard username and password will change! Your new username and password are your last name (first letter capitalized)+first initial of firstname (capitalized) +last four digits of student ID. Your student ID will be mailed to you in your acceptance letter from the Admissions Office. It can also be found on your printed schedule that can be picked up at the Business Office when you register for classes and on your billing statement that you will receive from the college. You can also obtain your student ID by calling the Registrar's Office at 870-574-4587.
First-Time Online Students
If you are taking an online class from SAU Tech for the first time, you are required to complete Learning Strategies. You will not be allowed to begin your other online courses until you complete Learning Strategies. The purpose of this course is to prepare you for your online learning experience with SAU Tech. Note: Students enrolled in Environmental Academy Non-Credit courses are NOT required to take Learning Strategies.
Free Word Processing Software
All work required to be completed using word processing software must be done using Microsoft Word. If you do not have MS Word, go to http://portableapps.com/apps/office/suites/portable_openoffice to download free word processing software. (Note: This does not apply to applications courses like Office Suite which REQUIRES that you use Miscrosoft applications.)
Textbooks
Most online courses require textbooks. Textbooks can be purchased from SAU Tech's bookstore. You can access SAU Tech's online bookstore at http://www.sautech.bkstr.com. Not having a textbook will not be accepted as a legitimate reason for beginning your classwork late and/or missing course deadlines unless the SAU Tech bookstore does not have your requested textbook in inventory at the time you register. Students who elect to purchase their textbooks from other textbook vendors do so at the risk of receiving the wrong textbook and/or experiencing a delay in receiving their textbook(s) which will not be an acceptable reason for beginning classwork late and/or missing course deadlines.
