| The Arkansas Environmental Academy, in 1985, was one of the first environmental training centers to begin training courses for the licensing and certification of landfill operators in the United States. With the amendments to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Subtitle D regulations and the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission Regulation 27, training courses for the licensing and certification of integrated solid waste management facility operators are now provided. These certifications include Apprentice Level A, Journeyman's Level B, and Supervisor's Level C. Training courses for each level are provided on-campus, off-campus, on the internet, and by two-way TV.
