| Second year students begin the internship program at the beginning of their spring semester leading up to graduation. Students write or update resumes and are sent to at least two prospective employers for job interviews. The student is responsible for scheduling the interview. The student and employer are responsible for setting up office hours. Once the hours are scheduled, the instructor visits with the student on the job to see how things are going and talk with the employer. A second visit is conducted toward the end of the internship and the employer completes a final evaluation. Students meet with the instructor once a week in the classroom. This setting is used to discuss how things are going on the job and to resolve any problems that may exist. A capstone review covering courses taken is also done. The student's grade for the internship is composed of capstone review, instructor visits to the job site, weekly assignments, report cards the employer sends every two weeks, a term paper and other classroom exercises. |
