Graduates Speak Out (Testimonials)

Web Design & Design AAS graduate
Jason Beaver

My name is Jason Beaver. I graduated in the first wave of John Rockwell's Web Development and Design degree with emphasis on E-Commerce from SAU Tech in 2004. After graduation, I held many subcontract jobs in the field and eventually was hired full time by NYK Logistics & MegaCarrier.

John Rockwell and the SAU Tech Staff provided me with a platform for understanding that allowed me to learn very quickly in a corporate environment. I was hired as a ColdFusion developer and have recently had the pleasure of learning and utilizing new industry-leading technologies such as Flex 2 & 3.

From what I understand, the courseware and environment has undergone many changes since I left with my tassel, but that only means that today's students will be even better equipped for cubicle America :-)

Jason is currently working as a Systems Developer for NYK Logistics (Americas), Inc. in Memphis, TN

Graphic Design AAS graduate
Felicia Baker

SAU Tech's Multimedia program provided me with everything I needed to follow my dream of becoming a Graphic Designer. Instead of reading tons of text and taking endless written tests every week, the instructors gave us HANDS ON EXPERIENCE by assigning REAL WORLD projects! Not only do they care how your grades are, but they also care about you and what is going on in your life.

I graduated in May and after only three months and two job interviews, I was offered a job as a Graphic Artist at South West Printers in Texarkana, TX. I haven't started the job yet, but I know because of everything I learned and experienced at SAU Tech... I am ready!

Web Design & Development AAS graduate
Brian Dixon

I feel honored to have been able to attend SAU Tech and study in the Multimedia Department. The curriculum gave me a solid foundation upon which I have been able to begin building my career as a web designer and developer.

Without the knowledge and experience I gleaned from my qualified and skilled teachers I would be at a total loss. Since graduating, I have had multiple job opportunities in the web development field. I do not believe that these opportunities would have been possible had I been trained at another college.

John Rockwell, the web design and development teacher, has a tremendous reservoir of real world experience out of which may be drawn many lessons that would not normally not be found in a classroom setting. If you are considering a career in the wonderful field of web design and development then my only question to you is: "Why haven't you signed up yet?"

Brian was honored as a National Technical Honors Society awardee in 2007. Currently working as an Independent Web Design & Development Consultant based out of Camden, AR., you can read more about his academic experiences at SAU Tech on our News/Events page.

Kelly Mitchell

I'm currently working at KTBS-3 in Shreveport, LA as a video editor. I absolutely love my job and I owe it all to the Multimedia department at SAU-Tech. I haven't heard about any other college that gives you more than enough experience needed to find the job of your dreams. In the Audio/Video Production program I learned what it's like in the "real world" and traveled on numorous occasions to various events. Without that knowledge I don't think I would be where I am today. The instructors really care about each and every student and I felt like we were all one big family. I really enjoyed having small classes giving me plenty of one-on-one time with each of my professors. The most valuable thing I learned at Tech was that you have to have "passion" for anything you want to succeed in! I appreciate the multimedia department realizing my passion for video production and graphic design and helping me achieve my goals! Thank you SAU-Tech Multimedia!!!

Trent Sullivan

The SAU Tech Multimedia Department greatly prepared me for the job market and for life. I am working and interviewed for jobs against people with a 4 year degree and work experience in graphic design. But with the skills and experiences I have from SAU Tech I am surpassing those people. Steve, Ashley, and John really work to prepare their students for the real world. I got to work and experience things that 10 year veterans in the business would love to have been involved in.

I got to work at different events from the "Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival" to a "Harley Owners Group Rally" to the "National NCAA Track and Field Championships". was and still am very excited about SAU Tech. They have prepared and given me everything I could ask for, to be ready for the world of multimedia. It is a program that will give you back just as much as you put into it.

Trent is currently working as a Graphic Designer for Wal-Mart Corporation.

Audio/Video Production AAS graduate
James Bell

My name is James Bell and I am currently a producer at a growing Ad Agency & production house. I have shot everywhere from the streets of New York City to Southern Texas during Hurricane Rita. I have a growing reputation in the industry for being professional, and highly creative. And everything I learned I learned at SAU Tech.

SAU Tech is one of the best decisions I ever made. The program is one of the best in the state and it keeps getting better every year. The hands-on approach that SAU Tech takes with its program helps the graduating students be more prepared for the real world after two years than most students are after four from other universities. The tools that I now use in my job, the software, cameras, computers, are the same that I learned when I was at Tech.

But what truly makes Tech special is the Instructors. These are people that go to great lengths to make sure every one of their students reaches their full potential. Constantly trying to take the program to next level, the instructors are never content with what they have. Instead, they are constantly raising funds for the newest, fastest computers, the latest software upgrades, and the best equipment so that their students are not only prepared to get a job, but have the advantage over other applicants in an ever increasing job market.

James is currently working as a Producer for JC Productions.

Audio/Video Production Certificate of Proficiency awardee
Chris Franklin

"I am currently working in production at KTVE/KARD in El Dorado. I manage all of the production that comes through our El Dorado branch. I work with the client and the Sales Representative to write a script. Then, I'll go out and shoot the script and finally, I'll come back and edit the commercial on our NLE.

I've been here since Nov. 2004 and I could never dream of being in this position without the skills and knowledge that I received from SAU Tech. SAU Tech is a wonderful institution where I got the training that I use every day.

The best thing about the faculty at SAU Tech is that they care for and work for their students. The majority of the facluty are people that have already been out in the world and working so you know what they teach you will work when you leave. Even the maintenance crew will will go out of their way to help when needed. I was in the parking lot one day and my car wouldn't start. One of the maintenance guys stopped and offered a jump -- and that means something.

I think the world of the Multimedia Department at SAU Tech. The instructors know what works and they use the equipment and resources available to train and guide you to a level of ability that you can't get anywhere else in the area. Not only are they your instructors, but they are your friends and I couldn't be where I am today without my experience at SAU Tech."

"Tech's Multimedia department, with its caring teachers, up to date software, hardware, and curriculum has made it easy for me to transition into a four-year college. The MM department's atmosphere gave me the confidence to take my dreams to the next level."

Web Design & Development AAS graduate
Lucas Barnes

"I graduated from SAU TECH in December of 2005 with a degree in Web Design and Developement. I am currently living in Fordyce, but am planning on moving to a larger city with more employment options for my field. Even now, after almost a full year since I have finished class requirements, the Multimedia department helps me persue this goal. The entire multimedia department (instructors as well as classmates) were extremely helpful in my personal discovery of my talent as well as my enjoyment in working on and completing projects. Being a part of Multimedia made being in class something to look forward to. Working on complicated projects provided for great learning experiences. I would recommend being a part of SAU Tech's Multimedia department to anyone. You will find awesome instructors who care about you personally, spend time with great classmates, and be a part of something you'll really enjoy. All while receiving a one-of-a-kind education."

Web Design & Development AAS graduate
William Johnson

"SAU Tech was a great decision for me. I went to a large university straight out of High School and didn't find the academic experience that satisfying. There, you have to take two years of classes that usually have nothing to do with your major. When I came to Tech, I wanted to continue working with computers and in the multimedia field. I began the Web Design & Development program in August of 2002. The class sizes were great because we were learning some technical programming, which requires a little more explanation than a normal classroom can handle. The faculty is very supportive of the students. At first, I felt a little less than challenged so I asked my Instructor for more challenging assignments. He gave me more projects, allowed me to extend my studies (assignments, books, etc.) and even worked with me in his free time to further my development skills. The Web Design & Development track of the Multimedia program at SAU Tech is a great place for those individuals who WANT to learn. The faculty will give you as much as you can take and push you to your full potential."

William is currently working as a Client/Server Developer Analyst II for Alltel Communications, Inc.
