Instruction will focus on care and beautification of hair, scalp treatment, styling, business management, and customer relations. It also includes classroom and practical experiences to prepare students for the state board licensing examination! Core Courses Defined by the Department of Workforce Education: Cosmetology I: A two semester instructional program that prepares the individual to begin achieving the basic competencies necessary to begin a program of study in Cosmetology and to begin acquiring documented hours of instruction required by the State Board of Cosmetology. Cosmetology II: A two to four semester instructional program of study that allows the individual the opportunity to achieve competencies to complete a program of study in Cosmetology. The course allows the completion of the 1500 hours of training and instruction required to be eligible for the State Board of Cosmetology licensing examination. Upon successful completion of the course and passing the State Board Examination, the student will be eligible to begin employment in a licensed cosmetological establishment. Cosmetology I Lab - Provides hands on application of concepts and skills learned. Students have the opportunity to obtain required hours towards licensure. Hair Design and courses also fold into the Associate of Professional Studies Degree at SAU Tech.
