OUACHITA-CALHOUN COUNTY LITERACY COUNCIL

The Ouachita & Calhoun Literacy Council (OCCLC) provides literacy services to adults living or working in Calhoun, Dallas or Ouachita Counties. The OCCLC provides free tutoring in reading, writing, math and English as a Second Language. The mission of OCCLC is to assist adults in becoming economically self-sufficient, employable and able to continue on to higher levels of education.

The OCCLC is an affiliated member of both the Arkansas Literacy Council Incorporated and Pro Literacy America. OCCLC operates in partnership with SAU Tech’s Adult Education Program in Camden.

Tutors
Tutors for OCCLC are volunteers trained to provide literacy services. OCCLC is always in need of volunteers and invites anyone that is 18 years or older and who is proficient in reading, writing, English and math and able to volunteer at least once a week for an hour and a half, to call 870.837.4005.

The OCCLC is governed by a volunteer board of directors which represents each county that the organization serves.
