The SAU Tech Adult Education Center serves Ouachita and Calhoun Counties.  We believe that education is a lifelong process and does not end when you leave school. The mission of the Adult Education Center is to provide educational opportunities that will help adult students reach their full educational potential and become more productive citizens. Adult Education Philosophy

  • All adults can learn.
  • All adults have the right to education that enhances their ability to effect positive change in their lives.
  • All adults have the right to obtain the life skills that they need to become self-sufficient, actively participating members of society.
  • All adults have the right to complete their education through the high school level.
What is the Cost?
There is NO COST for classes offered by SAU Tech Adult Education. All adult education classes are FREE OF CHARGE.

When are Classes Offered?
Adult education services are offered year-round, with both daytime and evening classes during the academic year. Students may enroll at any time, study at their own pace, and complete the course when they reach their personal goals. Instructors work with each student individually in a relaxed atmosphere. Computer-assisted instruction is also available.
 
Where are Classes Held?
Most classes are held at the SAU Tech Adult Education Center located in the SAU Tech Charles O. Ross Center at 746 California Street in Camden. Classes for Calhoun County are located at Hampton High School. Depending on demand, classes may be offered in other communities in Ouachita County and in various businesses and industries.

How Do I Enroll?
Just call 1.870.837.4001 or come by the Adult Education Center located at The Charles O. Ross Center at 746 California Street in Camden or Hampton High School in Hampton. With a convenient “open enrollment” policy, students may register for classes at any time.

SERVICES:

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
For the adult learner who wishes to brush up on reading, writing or math skills.

High School Equivalency (GED) Preparation
Adult learners will be prepared, through class work and practice tests, to take the GED exam in order to receive their Arkansas High School Diploma. Practice tests are available online.

GED Graduation

English as a Second Language (ESL)
For adults whose native language is not English and who wish to learn the language and customs of this country.

Basic Computer Literacy
For people who have had little or no experience with personal computers.  With hands-on experience and “user friendly” instructors, students learn the basics of personal computers. SAU Tech Adult Education also offers these classes for adult learners free of charge.
 
CDL Preparation
Study and preparation for the written portion of the CDL exam is provided.

Employability and Workplace Training
For adults who are seeking employment or refresh skills for job promotion. Remediation assistance is also provided for the Career Readiness Certificate.

Monday & Wednesday 8:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00a.m.- noon
