SAU Tech Career Academy
The SAU Tech Career Academy is an area secondary center located on the SAU Tech campus with satellite locations in Magnolia and Fordyce.
The Career Academy provides area high school juniors and seniors with the unique opportunity to earn college credit through skills-based technical courses while still in high school. The center's curriculum serves as an extension of the high school curriculum by providing students with hands-on training in technical fields.
We serve area high schools in Ouachita, Columbia, Calhoun, and Dallas counties with locations at SAU Tech, Magnolia, and Fordyce. Services are provided at no cost to the students. Books, tuition, and fees are provided through the Academy and funded through the Department of Workforce Education.
The Career Academy has three primary goals which define our purpose:
- To aid students in making an informed career choice.Students select a technical program based on their interests and aptitudes. Their experiences in the program help them to make career choices.
- To prepare students to enter the workforce upon high school graduation. The programs provided by SAU Tech to Career Academy students lead to certificate of proficiency from SAU Tech which equal marketable job skills.
- To encourage students to continue their education after high school. SAU Tech classes successfully completed by students enrolled through the Career Academy program are credited at both the high school and college level. Students can finish their technical program with as many as 16 hours toward an Associates degree at SAU Tech or advanced certification programs.
