SAU Tech’s Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. The program is offered once per year, is 11 months in length and combines classroom instruction with skills lab, simulation lab and clinical practicum experience to prepare the student for the licensure exam and for a successful and rewarding career in nursing. There are currently no course prerequisites for admission. Graduates of the program earn a Technical Certificate in Practical Nursing. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
The deadline for application is April 1, and there are additional requirements for application and admission (refer to the ‘Practical Nursing Application Packet below for further information).
Students accepted into the program are required by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN), according to the Nurse Practice Act §17-87-312 , to have a criminal background check by the Arkansas State Police and the FBI. Graduation from this program does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure exam as the ASBN makes this determination.
The nursing program begins on June 2, 2015.
The CNA classes are no longer being offered until further notice.
