ARKANSAS FIRE ACADEMY
Firefighter Standards Program
Firefighter Standards Course (Canadians and out-of-state personnel please consult information under Canadian / Out-of-State Students.)
The Arkansas Fire Academy's 8-week Firefighter Standards Program exceeds the Job Performance Requirements set forth in NFPA Standard 1001, Professional Qualifications for Fire Fighters.
* - Personnel who have already successfully completed EMS, First Responder or EMT or Paramedic training do not need to attend the training the week prior to the standards course.
The students receive lecture, practical and team sessions. Team concepts and discipline are strongly promoted. Students are assigned a group or shift. The students will be “on call” during their shift and will participate in day and night incidents occurring at the training site.
This program prepares trainees for testing which can result in certification in Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Hazardous Materials Operations. These certifications are through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NPQS or ProBoard).
